EDGE Program for Employers

How can EDGE help employers?

The EDGE program works with youth ages 18-26 to explore the career they want, develop skills and training to move forward and connect them with work experience and employers to make it happen! 

Through EDGE our young job seekers have options like:

  • the chance to meet you, the employers,
  • connect with a work mentor,
  • and job shadow at different workplaces, to give them further professional confidence.

We Provide:

  1. Job matching – We take time to understand your business needs so that we can match appropriate candidates. 
  2. Support – We provide ongoing support to both the new hire, and you as long as needed. 
  3. Quality candidates – EDGE participants are eager to work, and we help youth find jobs that fit their skills and life, because satisfied workers perform best.
  4. Skills training – We help our participants to connect to the job-related training it takes to enter the workforce to be some of your best employees. 
  5. Funding – We can help with wage subsidies, work equipment for our participants, job coaching, and can connect employers to further information and other future employees.

Nova Scotia Works Employer Services

We match your job requirements and workplace environment, with available workers. When we find the right candidate for your organization, we’ll share their cover letter and resume with you. 

And if we don’t have the right candidate available, we’ll share your job opening with other community partners to try and find the perfect match! 

Our support doesn’t stop at the hiring stage.

Every employee is different – and needs different support to do their best work. Once hired, Community Inc will assist your organization in accessing any supports and accommodations (ex. accessible doors, speech-to-text software, etc) needed by the successful candidate. 

Job Matching

Community Inc’s Employment Engagement team matches available job seekers with the skills required for your business, with your job vacancies. Our Job Developer and Employment Engagement Specialists will work closely with both you and job candidates to promote success for you both. We assist employers in finding the right employees so that their workplaces can continue to grow and be successful. We want our job seekers to find the right workplaces where their skills are needed, and they can truly help the business thrive.

Career & Job Fairs

Community Inc’s Employer Engagement team will help you coordinate and host career and job fairs, so that interested candidates can learn more about your job opportunities, and you can meet interested candidates. We offer a large meeting space to host job fairs, or we can assist you in finding a venue for larger recruitment needs.

Workforce Showcases

Community Inc’s Employer Engagement team regularly coordinates candidate-focused job fairs. Candidates with highlighted skills set up information booths and employers seeking those skills are invited to come and meet them.

Job Description or Posting Support

Community Inc’s Employer Engagement team will assist your organization with crafting job descriptions. We can also assist you by sharing your job ads on our Facebook pages, posting in our Nova Scotia Works Centres, as well as sharing with our network of employment service agencies to get your job opportunities in front of more potential candidates.

Wage Incentives

There are a number of potential wage incentive programs that can provide employers with financial assistance to hire new employees. We will help you explore available programs, recommend programs that fit your organization, and assist you with the application process.

Job Coaching Support

We provide job coaching and employment maintenance support to new employees who need extra training or support to learn their role. We also support current employees who are in need of support to keep their position.
