Mary joined our team in 2010 as a Case Manager and accepted the role of Executive Director in 2015. Mary has her Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management from NSCC, and a BA in Economics from Acadia University. Mary also has training in Solutions Focused Counselling, Counselling Skills I and II, Intro to Employment Services, Job Development Management, Board 101, HR Essentials and Gender, Sexuality and Gender Expression Awareness. Mary has been working in the social services field since 1997.

Phil Long
Manager - Operations, Nova Scotia Works - Kentville & Windsor
Phil is responsible for the management of the NS Works contract, site management, on site partner management, NS Works staff supervision, occupational health and safety and IT oversight – in addition to community partnership development.

Michelle Ferdinand
Case Manager, Nova Scotia Works - Kentville
Michelle joined our team on October 2016. Prior to that Michelle was the Case Manager for CMHA-Kings for 16 years. Michelle has a BA Major in Sociology (Saint Francis University), Human Services Worker Diploma (NSCC) and is working towards her Bachelor of Community Studies (Cape Breton University). She has additional training that includes: mental health champion, mental health first aid, needs assessment certification, Applied Suicide Intervention and SafeTalk, How to Deal with Difficult People, Addictions / Gambling 101, Non Violent Crisis Intervention and Motivational Interviewing.

Jennifer Elliott, CCDP
Team Lead /Case Manager, Nova Scotia Works - Kentville
Jennifer was a member of the Community INC team from 2012-2016 and has since rejoined in May 2018. She has a University Career Development certificate and is currently working towards obtaining her B.A in psychology. Jennifer is also a certified Career Development Practitioner and is registered with the Nova Scotia Career Development Association. She is happy to have returned to Community INC and is looking forward to continuing to assist individuals obtain their employment and career goals. We are vey happy to have Jennifer rejoin our team.

Elizabeth Spencer
Employment Support Practitioner (Job Shared Position), Nova Scotia Works - Kentville
Elizabeth joined our team in 2013. She worked as our Front End Case Manager before accepting her new role as Employment Maintenance Worker. She has an academic background in Office Administration (NSCC) and has had extensive employment services related training through her past employment (5 years) as a Facilitator and Case Manager with MetroWorks. Elizabeth has also assisted in the Dress to Impress program and is a Co-Facilitator in the Spotlight on Employment program - funded by the NS Department of Community Services.

Shawn Fletcher
Employment Support Practitioner (Job Shared Position), Nova Scotia Works - Kentville
Shawn joined our team in March 2016 for a term position as a Case Manager and then returned for his current role as an Employment Maintenance Worker in the fall of 2016.
Promoting positive social and economic growth in our community, are passions of Shawn Fletcher, an Employment Maintenance Worker with Community Inc. / Nova Scotia Works. Post-secondary studies include both Sociology and business, which he has put to good use in his extensive career as an entrepreneur, business owner, community worker, at risk youth counsellor, residential support worker, Recruiter, Job Developer, Career Practitioner, and currently as an Employment Maintenance Worker. Shawn’s experience has allowed him to showcase many skills and qualities, which we are sure will benefit your employment needs.

Case Manager / Information Resource Specialist (Term Position) , Nova Scotia Works - Kentville
Tracey joined our team in March 2018. Tracey comes to us as a Certified Career Development Practitioner, 4 years experience as a Case Manager with our community partner, Partners in Employment ( a division of the Flowercart Group) in addition to past experience as an Educational Assistant, 7 years as a Youth Care Worker as well as past entrepreneurship experience. She completed her Human Services program through NSCC with a concentration in Children and Youth, and a Bachelor of Arts (English / Sociology) from St. F.X. She also has completed a number of professional development courses such as ASSIST, Critical Stress Management and Cultural Sensitivity training.
